92-Year-Young Man Got a Porsche 911 GT3 as an Anniversary Gift, Picked It Up With His Lady

by Elena Luchain 92-Year-Young Man Got a Porsche 911 GT3 as an Anniversary Gift, Picked It Up With His Lady You would expect a 92-year-old driver to go for something like a Honda CR-V, a Toyota Corolla, or maybe a nice, comfy sedan with heated seats and a button the size of a dinner plate for the radio. After all, that is the stereotype, right? But every once in a while, someone comes along to remind us that age really is just a number, and that horsepower is, in fact, ageless. Meet Mr. Evans, a 92-year-young gentleman from Bournemouth, United Kingdom, who just picked up a brand-new Porsche 911 GT3. Not for his grandson. Not as a collectible. For himself. As an anniversary gift. And yes, he brought his wife along for the adventure. Most couples celebrate their wedding anniversary with a romantic candlelit dinner, maybe a nice glass of champagne, and an early night. Mr. and Mrs. Evans, however, decided that the best way to mark seven decades of togetherness was to take delivery of one of the most exhilarating machines ever made. Forget the candlelight! This celebration was illuminated by the glow of the GT3’s headlights instead! The dealership in Bournemouth shared a photo of the happy couple and their new toy: a 2025 Porsche 911 GT3 finished in stunning Oak Green Metallic. Mr. Evans stands in front of the car, holding his wife by the shoulders and grinning like a man half his age, which, considering the car he has just bought, makes perfect sense. There is no word yet on what cars have graced his garage before, but one thing is certain: this is his first Porsche. And what an entrance into the Porsche club that is. For those who might not know, the Porsche 911 GT3 is no ordinary sports car. Beneath that sleek, aerodynamic body lies a 4.0-liter, naturally aspirated flat-six engine that delivers 502 horsepower (510 metric horsepower) and 332 pound-feet (450 newton meters) of torque. That is enough to turn a trip to the grocery store into a motorsport event. It is available with either a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission or, for the purists, a six-speed manual gearbox. There is no confirmation on which one Mr. Evans chose, but given his bold spirit, we can only hope he went for the manual. The 911 GT3 is not just about straight-line speed, though it accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in a blistering 3.2 seconds with the PDK, or 3.4 seconds with the manual. It is a precision instrument of German engineering, featuring a redesigned front splitter and diffuser, a distinctive swan-neck rear wing. Customers can also spec the track-focused Weissach Package, which adds carbon fiber components for extra performance and flair In the UK, the Porsche 911 GT3 sports car starts at 158,000 pounds, which translates to $211,255. Only the Weissach Package woud be an extra 19,531 pounds ($26,081) if the customer goes for the roll cage version of it. Mr. Evans and his wife have proven that passion for driving does not fade with age. While others might be content with a leisurely cruise, this couple has chosen to celebrate life’s milestones with a roar, not a whisper. And honestly? We cannot wait to see what they drive home in for their 80th anniversary. A 911 GT3 RS, perhaps? At this rate, we would not bet against it.
